The California Correctional Peace Officers Association's Sacramento Chapter has generously sponsored our darling older Arabian gelding, "Justice."
Justice is one of a dozen horses abandoned at Del Puerto Canyon Ranch near Modesto during February 2009. According to his brand, Justice is 28 years old, definitely qualifying him as a senior. In addition to the deteriorating dental condition typical of an older horse, Justice appears to have suffered bouts of laminitis, thus securing his membership in our "Soup Group." Soup Group members enjoy a soft mash twice daily consisting of grain low in non-structural carbohydrates, rice bran, beet pulp, grass hay pellets, ground flax seed, probiotics, MSM and Remission,a unique blend of supportive nutritionals for horses foundered or prone to laminitis.
Justice came to us just days before friend, supporter, and Correctional Officer, Elaine D., told us of the CCPOA's program. What a natural fit. Such specialized care would not be possible without such generous support and we couldn't be more grateful. We are privileged to know many Correctional Officers throughout California and are truly honored by their support.
Even after all he has suffered, Justice has such spirit! He prances and trumpets and is bonded with Faith, a mare who shared his ordeal. They are clearly enjoying their time here and we savor the opportunity to serve them. Watching Justice recover and blossom is a prime example of what drives us.
Thank you, CCPOA, for your copious contribution toward a bright future for Justice.
PS ~ Justice says that he would be happy to make a guest appearance anytime... A nice ride out to Folsom to play in the lake might just do his heart (and limbs) some good!
*smile*
